Be Free, SPEAK UP!

A humanities’ biggest problem is a lack of understanding within the masses. Most people's instinct is stronger than their logic, they are irresponsible and wasteful with their own lives and the world around them.

We are 8 international students, who come from different countries like China, Spain, Austria, Romania and Poland. We are visiting Mauritius, because we are concern about social issues, which are taking place here, for example poverty, insecurity, environmental and education problems, drug and alcohol abuse etc. We joined the project called ‘The Unheards’ in order to give people possibility to express themselves and to sensibilise the society.

We would like you to share with us what are your everyday problems and issues about your country that you are concerned about.

During our first day of work we have been in the workshop about recycling conducted by NGO ‘Mission Verte’, which introduced us with the main problems about this issue in Mauritius. Some information was given to us, for example that nowadays there are 20 recycling containers and only one van to pick that rubbish and also that people are not aware about damages that can be caused when you are not segregating your garbage. We compared this situation with the one in our countries and we realized that here are still a lot of things to be done.
